Cockroaches in San Antonio
A cockroach is perhaps the most vilified insect in homes and offices; there are a number of roaches that are prevalent in Texas:
AMERICAN COCKROACHES
An American cockroach in Texas is one of the largest common cockroaches in the state. They are reddish-brown in color, with a margin of light brown or yellow behind the head.
GERMAN COCKROACHES
German cockroaches are about 5/8” long, overall light brown in color and wings which cover the abdomen with two prominent black stripes that run the length of the roach.
ORIENTAL COCKROACHEs
Oriental roaches are another common, indoor species of roaches found in San Antonio. They also vary in color from Black to brown, but their wings don’t cover the entire body in the males.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you see a whitish colored cockroach around your house, they are usually not albinos: they are roaches that have recently molted and have not changed the color of their exoskeletons yet.
