“Without question, the power of the fipronil molecule has been well documented in our industry by any number of lab studies and real-world testing. My objective in this study was to document both analytically and visually, termite behaviors within functional colonies and in response to interaction with fipronil-treated soil,” says Dr. Hu, an entomologist who regularly conducts research on termites, including Formosan termites and various integrated pest management methodologies. “The footage demonstrates exactly how quickly and how completely fipronil can be transferred among colony members, including workers and reproductives, resulting in colony elimination.”
Termidor, with its active ingredient fipronil, is the only liquid termiticide to have such direct evidence supporting both horizontal and vertical transfer throughout termite populations. Hu concludes that the vertical Transfer Effect™ is responsible for control of reproductives, subsequently affecting whole termite populations, not just workers.
More research to document Termidor’s unique Transfer Effect will be forthcoming throughout the next eighteen months, according to Bob Hickman, a market development specialist for BASF, who has collaborated with Dr. Hu on this and other Termidor research. “BASF prides itself on having strong, mutually respectful relationships with university researchers across the country. They are among our best resources for new knowledge on our products, and their findings always lead to greater improvements for the industry overall,” says Hickman. “Dr. Hu is an invaluable part of this research network. Her findings and documentation will be utilized for years to come in our termite biology and product-specific education efforts within the pest management industry.”
Termidor® from BASF is 100% effective at controlling 100% of termites in three months or less – a statement no other termite control product can make. That's why since its introduction in 2000, pest management professionals have made Termidor America's leading termite control, with over 2.6 million structures treated.
